Chelsea take on West Ham United on Monday evening in a London derby that both sides will be looking to snatch all three points from. Chelsea will see the math as a perfect avenue to bounce back from the morale-daunting 2-1 defeat against Wolverhampton Wanderers in midweek.
In the 13 games the Blues have played so far this season, they have managed to win six of them, drawn four, and have suffered three losses.
David Moyes’s West Ham are just below the Blues and are also one point behind Frank Lampard’s men. As the situation is currently both Hakim Ziyech and Callum Hudson-Odoi are currently out injured but Lampard will be hoping they can be fit on time for the next fixture.
Here are the updates regarding the players currently sidelined for the match.
Hakim Ziyech
The Moroccan wing wizard got injured in his side’s 3-1 victory over Leeds United. He suffered a hamstring strain in the tie and has been out since then. Since making the move from Ajax to Chelsea in the summer, Ziyech has had encouraging signs and looked like the player Chelsea splashed the cash on but will be looking to bounce back following his injury.
Callum Hudson-Odoi
Odoi is also out of action with the same hamstring problem. He joins Ziyech on the treatment table as yet another winger currently out due to injury. Manager Frank Lampard said he hopes he and Ziyech join up with the squad in training later this month but he is not sure whether any of the two wingers will be fit to feature in the West Ham fixture on Monday.
Kai Havertz and Giroud
Both players were substituted off from the midweek defeat to Wolves but none of them looked like they were injured. They should be available for selection ahead of Monday.
